Whether you like to grill year-round or are stockpiling recipes for summer, make sure to bookmark this marinade and give it a try! This works for breasts, thighs, and wings, and will be sure to be a staple in your grilling rotation. It is my absolute favorite, and it’s not even close…
Even during the dead of winter, I love an excuse to fire up the grill. Of course, I much prefer soaking up the sun with the smells of dinner lingering in the air, but I’ll take the flavor anytime I can get it. Not only does this marinade give me a great reason to grill, but it is also so easy to prepare (perfect for those busy weeknights) and so full of delicious flavors, I just can’t get enough.
I have tried this with every type of chicken. If you like chicken thighs, this is perfect. My wife prefers chicken breasts, which, if tenderized, turn out amazing as well. The absolute game changer, though, is with wings. I consider myself a wing snob and usually shy away from the saucy wings. Since these marinate all day, the meat gets so flavorful and then the skin and outside crisp up when grilled. The best of both worlds!
However you choose to use this marinade (maybe even as a dressing??), I am confident you won’t be disappointed. If you find a new use case for it, give me a shout; I would love to hear about it. Also, check out a few of my favorite sides to pair with it below!
As always, I will now walk through a few of the key ingredients, cooking tips, and steps to help you crush this meal and be the dinner time hero:
- Chicken – First thing you are going to want to do is pick which type of chicken you want to use. As mentioned above, you can’t go wrong with breasts, thighs, or wings! If you go with the first two, I would recommend tenderizing (especially the breasts).
- Create the marinade – Grab yourself a large mixing bowl and add in all the ingredients. Give it all a good mix and add your chicken. Make sure to give everything a good toss. You want every inch of each piece of chicken to be coated. (See the picture below)

- Let it rest – The key to every marinated meat is allowing it to rest as long as possible. For me, I have found the sweet spot with this one is about 4 hours. Anything over an hour will work!
- Fire up the Grill – Can you pan fry this? Absolutely! But the best way to cook this is on the grill. The oil sizzles and the juices drip, allowing that little touch of flame. Yummm!
- Sides?? – In need of a side or two? Check out some of my favorites below
- Twice Baked Potatoes
- Palmer House Potatoes
- Roasted Red Potatoes
- Corn Succotash
- Creamed Corn
The final product is a meal the whole family will enjoy!
