Teriyaki Stir Fry

Take Out?!? Not anymore. This homemade stir fry is better than take out and has fresh and healthier ingredients, making it the perfect meal for the family! Added bonus, it can be made in less than 20 minutes.

I have always been a huge fan of Asian/Chinese style foods. Something about them…they just taste so good. Especially the day after a long night out! The other great part is they are typically so quick to make and also are great leftovers.

As mentioned above, this recipe takes about 20 minutes to make. As you look through the ingredients, feel free to sub in/out any other veggies you would like (you can even omit the beef or change to chicken).

*If you need to make this dish gluten free, the only real issue is the soy sauce. Swap it out for liquid aminos*

For the Beef – The key for the beef is thin slices of meat. To make this easily, I find flank steak works the best. Since it is already thin, all you have to do is cut it in strips. If you use different beef, that is ok too!

Rice – Your choice here. Standard rice or rice noodles. Both are delicious, I went with rice noodles this time!

Veggies – Carrots, Broccoli, and Snow Peas. Others you could add – peppers, onions, water chestnuts, snap peas. Just make sure you cook them until soft before you add in the sauce, otherwise it will soak a lot of it up and not save enough for the noodles.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Flank Steak
  • 2 T Sesame Oil
  • Snow Peas
  • Carrots
  • Broccoli
  • 10 oz Rice Noodles
  • ½ C Soy Sauce
  • ½ C Water
  • C Rice Vinegar
  • 2 Cloves Garlic
  • ½ t Red Pepper Flakes
  • 2 T Starch
  • C Water

Instructions

  • Thinly slice you flank steak. Cut the broccoli into small florets. Thinly slice the carrots. And prep any other veggies you want to add
  • In your wok, heat the sesame oil. Add the beef and cook until browned (about 5 minutes)
  • Add in the veggies and cook until soft (3-5 minutes)
  • In the meantime, cook your rice or rice noodles and mix the sauce (everything except the starch and 1/3C Water). In a different bowl mix the starch and water
  • When the veggies are soft, add in the sauce and simmer for 3-5minutes. Then add the starch mixture. Remove from heat after the sauce reaches desired thickness
  • Stir in the noodles or add over rice
  • Enjoy!
