Slow Cooked Asian Pulled Pork

Get ready for a taste bud explosion. This pulled pork will wow your guests, family, or whoever share it with. I’m hoping it makes it into your regular rotation!

Typically when I cook pulled pork I go with traditional BBQ recipes. But sometimes you need to mix things up a bit, so enter the Asian Pulled Pork. This meal is full of so many delicious flavors your taste buds will be smiling! As with most bone-in meat dishes, timing is is everything and low and slow is always best. I let mine slow cook all day in my Nesco Slow Cooker and nothing beats the smell when you come home. Here are some tips and details that make this dish a winner:

Pork Shoulder – For starters make sure it is bone-in, it always tastes better. When you trim the fat off make sure to take your time. Don’t feel the need to trim it all, but for sure remove the big chunks. After you coat the pork in the rub, the next important step is the sear. This will lock in the flavor and ensure by the end it becomes pull apart tender and should look like this:

Sides – The next big question you may have is what to pair with this one. We did oven roasted broccoli and white rice. Oven roasted broccoli is one of our new favorite sides to make. Toss in olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder and bake at 425 for 20 minutes. It is flavorful and also doesn’t take away from the main dish.

As you can see from the ingredients list, the meal can easily be made Gluten Free. All you really need to do is swap out the soy sauce for liquid aminos!
