Chicken, BBQ sauce, melted cheese, and only 5 minutes to prep… this one may go down as my easiest recipe yet.
If you know anyone who says they don’t know how to cook or don’t have the time, send them this recipe. It is foolproof, and I promise they will not mess it up and will love the dish. And as always, one of the best parts is the fact that there is only one dish left at the end to clean!
The only thing that can make this dish more difficult is the sides you decide to make with it (which I cover below). This is also a perfect entry-level dish to have your kids help with. Not a lot that can make a big mess or go wrong
Let’s walk through a few of the key ingredients and cooking tips to help you crush this meal and be the dinner time hero:
- Chicken – For this recipe, I used chicken breasts, but you could also use chicken thighs. Go with your favorite! Also, if you have a bigger baking dish, the recipe can easily be doubled to serve 4 people or even 6. You won’t need to double the BBQ amount, just go with your gut!
- Cheese – I am a fan of using a white and orange cheddar mix (like a Colby Jack) for this one. Feel free to explore other options like a spicy pepper jack or even a mozzarella! Just make sure to not be shy and layer it on thick!
- Sides – There are endless possibilities to serve with this meal, so here are a few of my favorites below:
- Potatoes – I love serving this with skillet fried potatoes. You can also do mashed or baked for a delicious side.
- Roasted Vegetables – Brussels sprouts, broccoli, or even carrots would be great!
- Corn – Corn on the cob is an option, or corn succotash, which is corn, red pepper, and zucchini all roasted together with butter!
- Salad – This dish could be healthy with lettuce, or made midwestern with pasta salad.
- Basically, anything you can dream up should pair pretty well with this one!
