Mango Salsa

Homemade salsa is the absolute best. You can’t beat the freshly cut ingredients which lead to bolder better flavor. My favorite part about this salsa is that it only takes 5 ingredients to create!

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… it doesn’t matter. This mango salsa is perfect all year long! Obviously it is perfect with tacos, nachos, or any Mexican style food, but this one also pairs well with grilled meats and anything BBQ.

As I mentioned above, this recipe is super easy to make because it only requires 5 ingredients. The hardest part is finding the right mango and cutting it, so let’s talk about the ingredients and tips.

Mangos – First let’s talk about selecting the right mango…because if it isn’t ripe, this recipe will not be very good. As long as you have multiple mangos to choose from this should be pretty easy. Simply pick one up and give it a light squeeze. If it doesn’t budge at all, it isn’t ready. If it gives in a little, it is!

Cutting the mango. If you want a video, scroll down to the recipe section and check out my Instagram reel. It will show you how to cut. Otherwise here you go: A mangos pit is a flat oval shape. So you want to cut it into thirds (with the ends being as close to the center as possible. Pick up one of the ends and score it horizontally and vertically like a checker board. Then press it inward like this (should look like a hedgehog):

From there, slice the pieces of mango off of the skin and dice to the desired size. For the center piece, trim a circle around the pit, remove the skin and dice it up! Easy as that!

Habanero – If this is too spicy, you can substitute with the pepper of your choice, but I promise it won’t turn out as hot as you think (and the flavors match up perfect with the mango!). Slice off the sides, remove the core and chop into tiny pieces. Make sure you wash your hand a few times with soap and water or wear gloves. Otherwise if you touch your face or eyes, it will BURN!!!

However you choose to use this salsa, I hope you love it as much as we do!!

Enjoy!!
